The HH Whitney House is ideally located on historic Esplanade Avenue, midway between the Mississippi River and City Park, which boasts 1300 acres of nature trails, lagoons, bike and boat rentals, museums, gardens, sports complexes and other attractions.  It’s an easy 10 minute walk along the Avenue to the French Quarter or the Fairgrounds, which is the third oldest horseracing track in America as well as home to the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Esplanade Ridge is a treasure trove of architectural history and is serviced by Bus #91 (Jackson-Esplanade) with direct connections to four of the city’s five streetcar lines.

The home itself was built circa 1865 in the Italianate-style.  Plaster ceiling medallions adorn the foyer, dining room, solarium and double-parlor where three separate archways converge, suspended effortlessly in mid-air.  This ceremonial space is the perfect backdrop for your wedding ceremony or the renewal of your vows!

The parlor and solarium are elegantly appointed with antique Victorian furnishings as well as a 1912 player piano. The dining room features an 11-foot oak table which provides a casually elegant setting for breakfast. Eleven fireplaces grace the home, including two in the double-parlor which feature Italian marble mantelpieces. Unique cypress mantels add their own distinctive flavor to each guest room’s ambiance. Original cypress millwork and transoms exist throughout the home. Most bathrooms feature vintage clawfoot tubs and showers, while our Garden Suite boasts an oversized glass-block shower with dual showerheads.  Each of our two suites features a private balcony and ensuite bath, while our three standard rooms utilize either a private or semi-private hall bath.  Each room has one queen bed.

The lush tropical garden features an in-ground swimming pool and hot tub.  Free off-street parking and Wi-Fi is available as well as complimentary water, soft drinks and snacks.
