August 2024 Newsletter

Hello!

We hope you’re having a wonderful summer so far! New Orleans slows down a little this time of year, but there are still some wonderful events going on – this weekend’s Satchmo Summer Fest White Linen night, for instance, when the galleries of the Warehouse District open their doors and there’s a party atmosphere as people peruse new art.

If you’re a foodie, then you know that New Orleans is one of the greatest food towns in the United States. We used to be known as a city with 500 restaurants and one menu, but that’s far from the case now. Come and see the range of cuisines available – we have high end and award-winning Senegalese food, Haitian dishes and the Jamaican Jerk House is enjoying great publicity right now.

As summer is relatively slow, it’s actually a great time to come and sample some menus. All of August, and some of September, sees the COOLinary promotion. A huge list of restaurants across the city offer hugely discounted fixed price lunches and dinners, a perfect way to try places that might otherwise be just out of your budget, or just enjoy a new experience without much risk. Broaden your gastronomic horizons with a spontaneous trip!

As always, here are a few events coming up that we think are worth a trip – go to the website www.bbnola.com to book your rooms now, and come and see us very soon!

LILLY’S CAFE, NEW ORLEANS: RESTAURANT REVIEW

Lilly’s is genuinely cozy – all character and warmth, the kind of spot that patently doesn’t need to try too hard because it’s already earned a wall’s worth of awards. There’s that Gambit ‘Best Of’, Yelp recognition, the whole kit and kaboodle. You can immediately tell this isn’t some shallow, Insta-bait operation; it’s a kitchen […]
