The Laurel is a one-suite bed and breakfast with private bath and sunroom located in the heart of Mid-City. The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Endymion Mardi Gras Parade are both a 10-minute walk away. The French Quarter and Central Business District are just a 10-minute drive away. There is a bus stop and the street car line is within walking distance (5 minutes) which runs to both of these destinations. It is in a residential neighborhood and is only a 5-minute walk to City Park and The New Orleans Museum of Art. The sunroom has a full-size sleeper sofa which can accommodate 2 additional persons.

Two cats, Ranger and Billy, reside at the Laurel.

We offer a continental breakfast of croissants, muffins, assorted pastries, orange juice, coffee/tea. Special requests for non-cooked items are welcomed (yogurt, cereal, etc).

The home is a beautiful 2-story stucco structure with a red Spanish tile roof. It is architecturally unique and interesting with its arched doorways and doors. The original wood floors and ceramic tiles have been beautifully restored. The long center hallway serves as the perfect gallery for Eliot’s photos. The raised front porch and the front courtyard-style patio is a wonderful spot to sit and relax. The corner lot offers a beautiful view of the peaceful surroundings of the neighborhood.

Laura and Eliot Kamenitz have owned and resided in their home since 1995. They are the fifth and current owners of this 1924 raised cottage-style house. Laura is a Chemical Engineer and Eliot is a professional Photographer. Both are retired and enjoying a life of leisure.
